How you can get involved with the Diploma

The Diploma in Environmental and Land-based Studies is providing a big opportunity for businesses to encourage more young people into the sector.

Martin Callow, Diploma Adviser, said: “The Diploma helps young people to have a realistic view of the sector, allowing them to challenge industry stereotypes.  Young people will have a better understanding of jobs, qualifications and careers in the sector, leading to better staff retention and a reduction in recruitment and staff turnover costs.”

The Diploma has been designed in collaboration with employers to ensure that it reflects the modern needs of businesses and employers will form a vital element of the partnership to deliver the Diploma in schools and colleges.

Martin adds:  “The involvement of employers is vital for learners to acquire and apply knowledge, skills and understanding through tasks that have many of the characteristics of real work, or are set within the workplace.”

Businesses can get involved in the delivery of the Diploma through a range of activities outlined in an employer menu.
